The Food Diary of a Porn Star

Recently, I spoke with four porn stars about how they stay fit for a profession that requires them to be naked on camera. One of them, Chanel Preston, agreed to delve a bit deeper into her routine and reveal what she eats on a daily basis.

Preston, 28, has been doing porn for about four years. She was discovered while stripping in Hawaii. "Someone asked me if I'd be interested in doing adult movies and I actually thought I'd really enjoy it and I saw an opportunity there to make a career out of it. So I took it!" she says. She won several new starlet awards her first year in the biz and just hosted this year's AVN porn awards, which is essentially the Oscars of porn.

Wednesday, February 5
Sometimes I don't eat until later. I had coffee at 10:30 a.m. and then I didn't eat until 1 p.m. I had my guilty pleasure — Annie's gluten-free mac and cheese, and some yogurt. In the morning, I had to get my car window replaced and I was there forever. I had some meetings that day. At 6:30 p.m. I ate some chicken in my car. Just plain chicken from Whole Foods. When I was eating in the car, I was running around to different things. I had to get lasered and do my girly things. I eat in my car often, unfortunately. And then at 8:30 p.m. I had some shrimp and gluten-free peanut butter cookies and raisins.

Thursday, February 6
I had oatmeal at 9 a.m. Then I had lunch with a girlfriend of mine at a Peruvian restaurant. I'm obsessed with this place. They have amazing ceviche. Then I snacked on gluten-free cookies. At 9:30 p.m. I had feta cheese with rice crackers. After the Peruvian restaurant, I didn't really have a meal. I'm working on a webisode series right now, so a lot of my down time is spent writing and doing things like that. I'm creating a website that will be dedicated to shedding negative beliefs about sex. The industry is supportive. We all know each other well.

Friday, February 7
I ate oatmeal again at 8 a.m. I had to work that day so I was at work until 6:30 p.m. We were shooting a scene. I made some sweet potato hash. I like to cook but I actually don't cook that much. I kind of just throw things together and I'm not, like, amazing. Then I just snacked on rice crackers and feta at 8 p.m. When I'm really busy, I don't get very hungry. Even if I'm not shooting scenes, generally I'm dealing with a lot of other things. Also, when I work, I usually don't eat a lot on set. A lot of people don't like to eat before sex because it makes them feel kind of fat and bloated and they're like, "Ehhh, I don't feel sexy anymore."

Saturday February 8
I had yogurt and an apple at 7:30 a.m. and I was working that day, too. At about 11 a.m. I had an Asian salad and then at 2 p.m. I had coffee and cheese, meat, and crackers. It was a break. A lot of time at work we're just sitting on our asses. I was probably just sitting around bored, munching. At 8:30 p.m. I had kale and corn soup, and I was still really hungry so I also had a gluten-free bagel with cream cheese and gluten-free Oreos. I've been gluten-free since November, but I've cut it out of my diet before. Especially in L.A., it's really easy to be gluten-free. It's available everywhere. I initially went gluten-free because I was having some skin problems. I normally have really amazing skin so I didn't know what was happening. I cut gluten out and it didn't get worse but it didn't make it go away. I recently saw a doctor and she's having me eat much cleaner. She had me take out any food that causes inflammation like peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, even coffee. I'm trying to stop.

Sunday, February 9
I had Oreos again at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m. I ate a mango. I didn't eat much that day because I was going to a friend's house and I knew I was going to have sex. And I knew I was going to have anal sex so I didn't really eat very much. At night time when I got home I had fish and tater tots. It wasn't that late. It was 8 or 9 p.m.

Monday, February 10
I woke up and had some yerba mate tea at 8 a.m., then at 1 p.m. I had corn and kale soup. I had a bunch of meetings that day so I was able to sneak in a juice at 3 p.m. At 9 p.m. I had swordfish with rice.

Tuesday February 11
I didn't eat till noon but I had seared ahi tuna with a spinach salad. I didn't cook that. At 5 p.m. I ate my leftover spinach salad and some mashed potatoes. And at 7 p.m. I did snack again on a cherimoya fruit and then some more gluten-free cookies. Maybe I was just running errands that day? I don't remember what I was doing! I did get a small workout in this week but it wasn't at the gym or pilates. It was on a Strongboard Balance in my living room. It's a really cool balance board that I use, and I can do squats, lunges, or whatever on it. Helps me keep toned when I've had a busy week!
